Three of the four Division Series ended on Wednesday, October 7, and World Series contract prices shifted sharply as the field narrowed.
The Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays are through to the League Championship Series.
The Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians head to a deciding Game 5. Here is how one major prediction market repriced the field, and which results traders are tracking next.
How the World Series Market Moved
Polymarket’s World Series winner market offers a clear before-and-after view. The figures below come from Covers’ report on September 29, the day the Wild Card Series opened, and from its October 8 snapshot of the same market.
Each figure is a quoted price at one moment, not a fixed probability.
Reading a contract market works much like reading Steam’s monthly GPU survey: one reading says less than the direction it moves between snapshots.
Prices can also change between the moment they are recorded and the moment they are read.
What Drove the Moves
Rays. Tampa Bay swept the New York Yankees 3-0. The series opened with a 1-0 win in which Drew Rasmussen pitched eight innings, allowing one hit and striking out 10.
The Rays clinched with a 4-3 win at Yankee Stadium and reached the ALCS for the first time since 2020.
Their price more than doubled over the period, the largest relative gain among the three teams already through to the LCS.
Brewers. Milwaukee beat the San Diego Padres 3-1 and closed the series with a 3-1 road win.
In that finale, Garrett Mitchell caught a 406-foot Manny Machado line drive at the center-field fence that could have tied the game.
The Brewers finished with a franchise-record 103 wins, the best record in baseball, which gives them home field in the NLCS.
Dodgers. The two-time defending champions dropped Game 2 to the Atlanta Braves 3-2. They then won 3-1 and 4-1 in Atlanta to take the series 3-1, and they remain the top price on the board.
The eliminated clubs also mattered. On September 29, Polymarket priced the Yankees at 9%, the Padres at 6.6% and the Braves at 6.3%.
A team’s World Series contract has no path to Yes once it is eliminated, so as each club went out, its share of the market moved to the teams still alive.
Reading Prices in the Current Round
Some trading boards show each price as the payout on a $100 position.
On that basis, a 43% Dodgers price returns about $233 if the Dodgers win the World Series, and a 22% Rays price returns about $455. Both figures are before fees.
Displayed prices can include a spread, so the two sides of a contract may add up to slightly more than 100%.
It also helps to keep three questions separate: a single game, a series winner and the World Series winner.
Each is its own contract with its own price, and comparing them as if they were the same question leads to wrong conclusions.
For readers who follow major league baseball odds as contract prices rather than sportsbook lines,
Fanatics Markets organizes its baseball listings into game lines, player props and futures.
Each price should be read alongside the contract’s wording and settlement rules. The page itself notes that live data may be delayed or incorrect.
The Open American League Series
Cleveland forced a deciding game with a 9-5 win in Chicago on Thursday, October 8.
José Ramírez homered and drove in three runs, and the Guardians scored six runs in the sixth inning against the White Sox bullpen.
The White Sox had led the series 2-0. Game 5 is Saturday, October 10, in Cleveland. The winner meets the Rays in the ALCS, where Tampa Bay holds home-field advantage.
What Traders Are Watching Next
- NLCS opener. Game 1 is Sunday, October 11, in Milwaukee, with Game 2 there on Monday. Games 3 and 4 move to Dodger Stadium on October 14 and 15, with Game 5 there on October 16 if needed. This is a rematch of the 2025 NLCS, which the Dodgers swept. The Brewers won the 2026 regular-season series.
- ALCS start. The American League series begins Monday, October 12, once Game 5 decides Tampa Bay’s opponent.
- Probable pitchers. MLB lists starters as subject to change. Record when an announcement was made, not just when you saw it, before connecting it to a price move.
- World Series. The Fall Classic begins October 23.
