Gran Turismo 7 Spec IV Update Coming Later This Year in Two Parts

Gran Turismo 7 is getting a pretty big Spec IV update later this year and there’s enough coming that Polyphony Digital is splitting it into two releases. The first part is scheduled for October, followed by the second in December, ahead of Gran Turismo’s 30th anniversary in 2027.

Both updates will bring new tracks and cars with Sportsland SUGO arriving first in October. The Japanese circuit is known for its elevation changes, flowing corners and Dunlop bridge. December will bring back Autumn Ring, a longtime Gran Turismo favorite that first appeared in the original game. A total of 12 cars are also planned between the two releases, though Polyphony Digital is keeping those under wraps for now.

Online Drift Trials are being added for players who want to put their drifting skills up against others, while Shuffle Races will mix things up with randomized conditions that require drivers to adjust on the fly. New Driving Experiences are also planned, along with a Car Viewer feature and a Concierge designed to help with ordering used and legend cars.

Family Mode will arrive with the December update of Spec IV. It’s being built as an easier way for friends and family with different skill levels to jump in and play together. The idea is to make Gran Turismo 7 a little more approachable for newcomers without making the mode feel like it’s only meant for beginners.

More details on both updates will be shared during Gran Turismo World Series Round 3 in Singapore on October 3. That should include a closer look at the new cars, tracks, modes and other features planned for the October and December releases.
