Rated PvP Gets an Inflation Boost in World of Warcraft Hotfixes

Blizzard has published a September 17, 2026, round of hotfixes for World of Warcraft. The update addresses issues in Ruby Life Pools and The Venomous Abyss, while also increasing PvP rating inflation across rated modes and reducing the PvP damage of the Font of Venomous Rage trinket.

Blizzard says some hotfixes take effect immediately, while others may require scheduled realm restarts. The developer also notes that certain issues require a client-side patch update and that its hotfix list will be updated as additional changes are applied. The September 17 notes follow the September 15 hotfixes and other recent class and gameplay maintenance.

What's Included

• Ruby Life Pools: Blazebound Destroyers and Primalist Flamedancers should now contribute toward enemy forces when no player was on their threat table as their death sequence finished. Blizzard notes that, as a side effect, the default UI tooltip will no longer show these creatures' contribution toward enemy forces.
• The Venomous Abyss - The Coiled Altar: Unnerving Fixation was fixed after targeting tanks more often than intended.

In rated PvP, Blizzard significantly increased rating inflation for all rated modes, with emphasis on Battleground Blitz, Rated Battlegrounds, and Rated 3v3 Arena. The developer said the adjustment follows feedback about achievable ratings and is intended to improve progression and support healthier ladder movement as the season continues. Blizzard said it will continue monitoring rating distribution and make further adjustments if necessary.

The Font of Venomous Rage trinket's damage has also been reduced by 50% in PvP combat.
