Something in the latest update to Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 has been causing crashing issues for SteamOS / Linux players - but you may be able to fix it.

There wasn't any major update actually announced recently, but it seems something on their back-end is now causing the game with Proton Experimental to crash with Easy Anti-Cheat on SteamOS / Linux systems like Steam Deck, Steam Machine and Desktop Linux.

There's a big post on the Steam forum with lots of replies about it, with some suggesting older Proton versions like Proton 9 work with it and in a bug report on the Proton GitHub, another user said Proton 11 works as well. Valve have the game set for Proton Experimental by default, which you can easily switch it yourself though.

Hopefully Valve will figure out why Proton Experimental is causing crashes, or perhaps the developer Saber Interactive will be able to sort it out. Until then, try a different Proton version.
