ROCKFISH Games just announced and released the final technical update for EVERSPACE 2, which makes it Steam Deck and Steam Machine Verified. ICYMI: we recently covered how there's now over 30,000 playable and verified games for Steam Deck / Steam Machine.
The brand new update includes optimizations, bug-fixes, and quality-of-life features developed during the Switch 2 port that benefits all platforms like new handheld-specific UI updates to improve readability on Steam Deck.

From the press release sent to GamingOnLinux:
“This technical update caps off an eight year journey with EVERSPACE 2. Our vision for an open world spaceship action RPG began alongside the founding of our studio more than a decade ago and was realized in this ambitious project,” said ROCKFISH Games CEO and Co-Founder Michael Schade. “This has been a wild ride and we appreciate all the space fans who have come along for this journey. Thank you to every EVERSPACE 2 player out there who has enjoyed our game, left a review, shared the demo, and encouraged us to keep going.”
“The team here at ROCKFISH is turning their attention back to the future. Barring potential hotfixes and a few console-specific changes, this will be the final update for EVERSPACE 2,” said Schade. “We’re not done telling stories in the EVERSPACE universe or creating awesome action-packed space adventures. While it will be some time before we can reveal anything about our new game, I can’t wait to show our community of space game fans the incredibly exciting things we’ve been working on.”
In other news - the ROCKFISH Games team is a recent recipient of an eight million Euro grant from the German Government to develop a new title within the EVERSPACE franchise. It will be interesting to see what that will be!
